Cancellations Begin Ahead Of Fiona

Cape Breton University says its campus and its associated offices will close at noon tomorrow because of Hurricane Fiona.

Parks Canada says all camping accommodations in the Highlands National Park will also close at noon tomorrow for the same reason.

Guests with camping reservations including the nights of September 23rd through the 25th will be contacted and have their fees fully refunded.

National Historic Sites will also be closing because of the storm, including the Fortress of Louisbourg and the Bell Museum in Baddeck.

The province says all provincial campgrounds, beaches and day-use parks will close at noon tomorrow.

It says the parks will be evaluated for damage and safety concerns before they reopen.

The government says all campers with reservations affected by the closure will get full refunds.
