The Cape Breton District Health Authority says the Regional Hospital has reached capacity for inpatient beds. As a result, this morning’s Ambulatory Care Clinic has been cancelled because clinic rooms are being used for admitted patients. Appointments for blood transfusions, phlebotomies and IV therapies are not affected. The District says it’s trying to contact patients affected by the cancellations and will reassess the situation at noon, today. It adds the Regional Hospital has been experiencing an increase in visits to its Emergency Department and a resulting increase in admitted patients.
