Call For Speed Limit Reduction In Area Of Fatal Crash

Victoria County Council is calling on the provincial Department of Transportation to lower the speed limit in the area of a fatal crash on the 105 Trans Canada, last week.

A 60 year-old man and a 57 year-old woman from Whycocomagh died when their car collided with a transport truck at the Irving gas station outside of Baddeck.

Council wants the speed limit in the area lowered from 80 kilometres an hour to 60.

Warden Bruce Morrison says the County has been calling on the province to lower the speed limit in that area for about 15 years.
