Cabot Trail Work Underway After Storm Damage

Parks Canada says the Cabot Trail remains closed between Ingonish and Neils Harbour while work is done to replace culverts and fix roads and bridges damaged during the storm earlier this week.

It says crews are trying to re-establish the part of the Cabot Trail at Marrach Brook near the Broad Cove Campground.

A full assessment is being along a 15-kilometre stretch of potentially effected road in the area and the assessment is expected to be complete tomorrow.

Meanwhile, work is being done on two culverts near Still Brook and a structural assessment will be done on the bridge at Halfway Brook.

Parks Canada says if all goes well, one-lane access through the area could be restored by the end of next week.

Drivers are being told to expect delays in the area while road work is being done.
