By-Law Officer Due To Enter Pleas, Next Month

A CBRM by-law officer charged in relation to a theft from a provincially-owned property is due back in court next month to enter pleas.

41 year-old Jason David MacDonald faces counts of break and enter, theft and possession of stolen property.

Police say the offences took place at a facility on Grand Lake Road in August and add MacDonald is one of three people charged in the incident.

He’s now scheduled to enter pleas to the charges on April 4th.

Meanwhile, Planning Director Malcolm Gillis says that MacDonald will be let go if he’s convicted, but remains on the job for now, carrying out office duties.

Gillis adds that the situation is costing the municipality because MacDonald is one of only two bylaw officers who are on the payroll.
