By-Election Day

It’s by-election day in two in Cape Breton constituencies.

Voters in Cape Breton Centre and Sydney-Whitney Pier are heading to the polls to fill seats left vacant when NDP MLA’s Frank Corbett and Gordie Gosse stepped down in April.

In Cape Breton Centre, Edna Lee is carrying the Progressive Conservative banner again, while Tammy Martin is hoping to hold the seat for the NDP.

Dave Wilton is taking another run at the seat for the Liberals.

In Sydney-Whitney Pier, Madonna Doucette is the NDP candidate, Brian MacArthur is hoping to take the seat for the Tories and Derek Mombourquette is on the ballot for the Liberals for a second time.

A third by-election is being held in Dartmouth South today to fill a seat left vacant by the sudden death of Liberal Alan Rowe.

The polls open at 8:00 this morning and close at 8:00 tonight.

The Coast will bring you live election results as they start rolling in, this evening.
