Budget Consultations Start This Week

The Regional Municipality’s public budget consultations begin this week.

Over the last couple of years, the consultations were held in February and several had to be postponed because of wintery weather.

To avoid that situation again it was decided to hold the meetings, this fall.

The first consultation is being held in the Sydney District of councillor Jim MacLeod.

MacLeod says he wants public input on priorities for the district, but he adds he also hopes the new federal Liberal government will work quickly with its provincial counterparts to free up infrastructure funding.

The budget consultation for District 12 will take place on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 at the Whitney Pier Legion.

The District 3 meeting will take place on Sunday at 2:30 at the Christmas Island Fire Hall.

A full list of meetings is available on the CBRM website.
