Boys Charged With Bringing Gun to Memorial High

Two teens from the North Side face weapons-related charges, after reports the boys were seen in possession of a gun inside Memorial High School in Sydney Mines.

Cape Breton Regional Police say they were called to the school yesterday afternoon, when a student reported that she saw a boy with a gun in his waistband the previous day.

The boy was not in school yesterday, but police say they went to the home of the 15-year-old in Sydney Mines and placed him under arrest.

Police say they then learned that there was possibly a second boy in possession of the same weapon at the school.

Officers still at the school arrested the 17-year-old from North Sydney who police say was found to be in possession of a cap-style pistol.

They add neither suspect made any threats towards the school or any students.

Police say after searching the Sydney Mines home last night they found a second weapon.

Both boys are charged with Possession of a Weapon and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.

The 15-year-old also faces two Breaches.
