The earliest a boil water order for the New Waterford water system can be lifted is this afternoon.
The advisory affects the communities of New Waterford, Scotchtown, River Ryan, New Victoria and Lingan.
The Regional Water Utility issued the advisory on the weekend as a precautionary measure after one water sample had quality concerns.
It will remain in effect until there are two clear samples at the same location over a two day period.
Until that time, customers are asked to boil all water for at least 1 minute before drinking it, washing food, preparing infant formula, making ice cubes and brushing their teeth.
