Board Turns Down Extension for Louisbourg Hub School Society

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board has voted not to grant a third extension to the group pitching a hub school model for the school in Louisbourg.

The decision was made at a special board meeting yesterday.

The George D. Lewis Hub School Society is proposing the hub school model as a way to keep the school open.

It’s one of 17 in the Board has voted to close.

The plan would see the school rent out unused space to interested groups.

The School Board says the Society’s proposal will now be evaluated by an independent consultant hired by the Board.

It adds the consultant’s report is expected to be ready by the middle of next month with the Board making a final decision by the end of September.
