Board To Revisit New Waterford Elementary Name

The Cape Breton-Victoria Regional School Board is reconsidering a decision to rename Greenfield Elementary, New Waterford Elementary.

The Board voted in favour of the name change because of the consolidation of all area elementary schools at Greenfield Elementary.

But people in the area say the name change hasn’t gone over well with some because it leaves out River Ryan and Scotchtown that are also served by Greenfield Elementary.

The Board will vote on a motion to change the name back to Greenfield Elementary at its meeting on October 24th.

School board chair Lorne Green says the motion is the result of the reaction they got from the community.
