Biggest Minimum Wage Increase In Province’s History On the Way

The provincial government says it’s bringing in the biggest minimum wage increase in the province’s history, this year.

The government says the rate will increase by a total of $1.30 in 2025.

It will first go up from the current $15.20 cents an hour to $15.70 on April 1st.

It will then increase to $16.50 an hour on October 1st.

The minimum wage is updated every year on April 1 based on the consumer price index for the year before, plus an extra one per cent.

The province says the extra increase on October 1st this year responds to concerns about the rising cost of living.
