Bayplex Funding Announced

Ottawa and the province announced money for the renovation of the Bayplex today.

The federal, provincial and municipal governments will each be contributing 3.25 million dollars to the project.

The arena has been closed since last summer over concerns about structural problems and mold.

The municipality had been waiting to hear from the other two levels of government about the cost-shared project, and Mayor Cecil Clarke says now they want to make sure the project is done right.

Regional Council set aside the municipality’s share for the renovation costs during budget sessions in March.

It’s hoped the renovation project will be finished by September of next year.
