Barrett Due In Court, Today

One of the Glace Bay men charged in the murder of Laura Jessome from Bras d’Or is due back in court, today.

Thomas Ted Barrett faces a count of second degree murder in the case.

Barrett has applied for legal aid and is expected give an update his search for a lawyer.

No trial date can be set until Barrett has a lawyer.

Barrett’s court appearance today, comes after his co-accused Morgan James McNeil pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the case, last week.

McNeil is due to be sentenced on October 18th.

Earlier this year, Barrett was convicted of second degree murder in the death of Brett Elizabeth McKinnon, from Glace Bay, and sentenced to life in prison with no parole eligibility for 15 years.
