Barrett Back in Court, Today

A Glace Bay man is due in court today to set a trial date on charges of attempted murder, unlawful confinement, assault and uttering a threat.

38-year-old Thomas Ted Barrett is alleged to have committed the
offences in Glace Bay in July of 2012.

Barrett is also facing two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of two 21-year-old woman; Laura Jessome from Bras d’Or and Brett Elizabeth MacKinnon from Glace Bay.

A preliminary hearing for Barrett and his co-accused in the Jessome case, 23-year-old Morgan James MacNeil from Glace Bay, was set last week for May 26th.

However, that date could change because Barrett does not yet have a lawyer.
