Bain Elected Speaker

Victoria-The Lakes MLA Keith Bain was elected speaker of the Legislature this morning.

MLA’s gathered this morning to choose a speaker with some of them in the Legislative Chamber in person and others online because of COVID-19.

There had to be a vote for the post because NDP leader Gary Burrill nominated Halifax Citadel-Sable Island MLA Lisa Lachance for speaker.

Lachance and Liberal MLA Angela Simmonds have been chosen as deputy speakers.

MLA’s will return to Province House on October 12^th for a speech from the throne.
