Bail Hearing Adjourned Again For Robbery Accused

A bail hearing was adjourned for the second day in a row today for a Glace Bay man charged after two robberies earlier this week.

50 year-old Harold James Desmond is due back in court again tomorrow.

He’s facing three counts of theft and single counts of robbery, assault and breaching a court order.

Regional Police say they got a call just after midnight Monday morning about a robbery at the Ultramar in Reserve Mines.

The store clerk tells police a customer dressed as a security guard came behind the counter and stole several cartons of cigarettes.

While on scene, police say they got another report of cigarettes being stolen from the Sobey’s Fast Fuel on Prince Street in Sydney.

They say the man believed to be responsible for both robberies was later stopped on Richmond Street in Sydney where he was arrested and had his vehicle seized.
