Bail Granted for Abduction, Assault Accused

A 28 year-old man was released on bail today as he faces a number of charges in a home invasion and abduction in Northside East Bay.

Jake Hector Mackinnon from Tower Road outside of Glace Bay faces counts of Assault with a Weapon, Uttering Threats and Kidnapping as well as Break and Enter and Mischief.

Regional Police say they got called to a break and enter in Northside East Bay at around 2:00 on Saturday morning.

They say a woman was taken from the home in a vehicle before officers arrived and the man who owns the home suffered injuries after being assaulted.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested after it was later stopped by police and the woman was rescued uninjured.

Police say the man and woman at the home and MacKinnon all know each other.

MacKinnon is due back in court to enter pleas on March 5th.
