Bail Denied For Assault Accused

Bail was denied today for a Reserve Mines man accused of assaulting an 81 year-old man.

However, Darren Joseph MacGillivray is due back in court for another bail hearing on Wednesday.

MacGillivray was charged with aggravated assault after a man was found injured outside the Jacques Cartier Motel on the Sydney Glace Bay Highway on October 1st.

The 81-year-old was airlifted to Halifax hospital for treatment of what police call non-life-threatening but serious injuries to his face.

Police say MacGillivray was arrested in the motel parking lot.
