Baddeck Reviewing Governance Model

The Village of Baddeck says its governance model is being reviewed as it deals with the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The village says it’s started formal discussions with Victoria County and the Department of Municipal Affairs on a joint review.

The Chairperson of the Baddeck Village Commission, Brian Morrison, says the village has been operating on a break-even basis with little or no growth in its tax base and the already challenging situation has been made worse by the pandemic.

The Village Commission says people living in Baddeck will have a chance to offer input on recommended changes at the Village’s annual general meeting early this fall.

Because of the pandemic, the village says any comments or concerns should be sent by email.
