Baddeck Couple Die In Mexican Hotel Room

Mexican officials say the death of a Baddeck couple found in their hotel room was accidental.

Relatives of Charles and Dorothy MacKenzie say the couple was in the country for their daughter’s wedding that was supposed to take place, today.

Mexican officials say the couple’s bodies were found by their daughter in a whirlpool spa on Monday and showed no signs of violence.

They add autopsies show Charles died of a heart attack and Dorothy drowned.

They go on to say the deaths appear to be linked, suggesting that Charles’ heart attack may have somehow caused his wife to drown.

The Department of Foreign Affairs says that Canadian consular officials in Playa del Carmen are in contact with local authorities to gather more information, and are helping friends and family of the victims.
