Attempted Murder Charge Laid After Cape North Shooting

A 61 year-old Cape North man has been charged with attempted murder after a shooting in that community yesterday.

RCMP say they got a call at about 4:00 yesterday afternoon about a man being shot in the leg with a shotgun.

His injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Police were told the shooting happened after an argument between two men who know each other, and the shooter then ran into the woods.

Police say the man was arrested when he walked out of the woods at about 6:00 yesterday evening.

In addition to attempted murder, the man also facing charges of Discharging a Firearm with Intent, Careless Use of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose.

Police say their investigation continues.
