Arson Charge Laid In Sydney Mines Fire

Regional Police say a 29-year-old Sydney River man has been charged with arson after a suspicious fire in Sydney Mines last week.

They say there was no one in the home on Peppett Street when the fire happened early Friday morning.

The home next door was evacuated as a precaution and police say no one was hurt.

They go on to say officers were able to track down a man in a vehicle on Pleasant Street based on descriptions given by people in the area.

The man was arrested but has since been released and is due in court on May 19th.

His name has not been released.
