Arrest Made On Alleged Firearm Offence In North Sydney

Two people were arrested in North Sydney yesterday afternoon after Cape Breton Regional Police received a report that someone had entered a King Street residence with a handgun. Police set up a containment around the residence, and the two were arrested when they stepped outside.  A search warrant was later obtained for the residence, where police say they found a black BB gun that’s an exact replica of a 9 mm handgun. One of those arrested, a 33 year-old man, was released without charges. The other, 30 year-old Jerry Walter Jessome, is facing charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, careless use of a firearm, and two counts of breach of recognizance. He’s scheduled to appear in Sydney provincial Court tomorrow.
