People can now apply for this year’s Heating Assistance Rebate Program that offers 600 dollars to help them with their heating bills.
The province temporarily increased the rebate to a thousand dollars last year from the previous rebate of up to 2-hundred dollars.
This year, the rebate is available to families earning up to $75,000 or single-income households earning up to $55,000, whether they rent or own.
The province says people applying for the heating assistance rebate could also be eligible for the newly expanded $750 Seniors Care Grant, the Property Tax Rebate for Seniors, and the Home Energy Assistance Top-up Fund run by The Salvation Army.
People can apply online for the heating assistance rebate through a link on the provincial government website or pick up application forms at Access Nova Scotia, Community Services and MLA offices.
