Applications For Paid Sick Leave Program Opening Next Week

The province say applications for its COVID-19 Paid Sick Leave Program are opening Monday at 1:00 in the afternoon.

The program is open to employers and self-employed workers and covers up to four sick leave days for up to a maximum of $160 a day.

The maximum payment over the 15-week period is $640 per worker.

The program covers workers who miss less than 50 per cent of their scheduled work time in a one-week period who need to isolate because of exposure, close contact, or because they’re experiencing symptoms or getting tested.

They may also qualify if employees are going to a vaccine or booster appointment.

The program will be retroactive to include sick days starting December 20th and will continue until March 31st.
