Anti-Poverty Campaign in Three Local Communities, Today

Sydney, Glace Bay and Sydney Mines will be the target of anti-poverty campaign, today.

People will be handing out paper lunch bags with the phrase “Chew on This” written on them between 11:30 this morning and 2:30 this afternoon.

Inside the bags will be a granola bar and a postcard urging the federal government to eliminate poverty.

Numbers from Stats Canada show one in three Cape Breton children live in poverty.

Today’s campaign is part of a nationwide effort.
