Another Code Critical In Regional Municipality

The paramedics union is tweeting about another code critical in the Regional Municipality today.

IUOE Local 727 says there were only three ambulances available in the municipality at around the noon hour.

This follows other code criticals in the Regional Municipality yesterday and last week.

However, Health Minister Randy Delorey says, despite the challenges facing the system, there are always ambulances available because they can be called in from other areas.

Delorey says the province now has a pilot project at the Dartmouth General Hospital, where they’ve hired extra staff to minimize the time between when patients are offloaded and admitted.

There’s no timeline for when that will be taken province wide.
