Elections Nova Scotia says 26,853 votes have been cast for next Tuesday’s election.
They go on to say more than 4,000 people voted in the first three hours of advance voting when the polls opened yesterday.
Andy LeBlanc, Policy and Communications director for Elections Nova Scotia, says early voting is up from 2013.
“There are a number of factors,” LeBlanc told The Coast. “One is that we have seven days of advance polls instead of two this time compared to 2013. Another reason is that you can vote from anywhere in the province. Right now — during advance polls and during any early voting opportunity — you can go to a returning office, to an advance poll, to a community poll and it doesn’t matter where you live in the province, you can vote any one of those poll locations.
“And the ballot will be printed off for them based on their electoral district.”
Early voting isn’t open today but is open on Victoria Day from 9:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m.
