Accused in Reserve Mines Fatal Shooting Due Back in Court

The Ben Eoin man charged after a fatal shooting in Reserve Mines in June is due back in court, today.

24 year-old Brandon James Berthiaume faces a charge of first-degree murder in the death of 24 year-old Brandon Kelly.

Berthiaume is also facing a second charge of attempted murder with a firearm, after police say another person was targeted in the shooting but wasn’t injured.

Berthiaume’s mother, 45 year-old Jennifer Lynn Chisholm from Ben Eoin, is facing a charge of accessory after the fact in the case.

According to court information, Chisholm is accused of knowing that her son killed Kelly and helped her son by taking a black leather biker’s vest from him.

She was released after her arrest while her son remains in custody.

Both have been ordered to have no contact with each other.
