Federal Funding Announced For Local Skatepark

The Andrew MacKinnon Memorial Skatepark in Sydney is getting federal funding for a major rebuild.

The government says the funding will create a safer, more durable and modern recreation space for skateboarders, scooter riders and other users.

It says the project will replace the aging asphalt-based park with a reinforced-concrete, all-wheeled facility designed for users of varying ages, abilities and skill levels.

Work will include demolition of the existing park, earthwork and grading, concrete formwork and steel and rebar installation, as well as construction of new obstacles and riding surfaces, finishing, landscaping and site cleanup.
