CB Unemployment Rate 12.5% In February

Stats Canada says Cape Breton’s unemployment rate was 12.5% in February.

That’s up from 11.1% in January and 12.2% in February of last year.

Meanwhile, the national jobless rate went up two-tenths of a percentage point to 6.7% in February.

The federal agency says the country lost 84,000 jobs last month.

Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate was 7% in February.

That’s up from 6.6% in January and 6.4% in February of last year.
