The price of gas went up overnight after the Energy Board used its interrupter clause.
Gas increased by 9.3 cents a litre and now goes for a minimum of $1.63.9 in Cape Breton.
The Energy Board says the change was necessary because of significant shifts in the market price although oil fell back to around $90 US a barrel after surging to nearly $120, earlier yesterday.
Meanwhile, the price of diesel didn’t change.
The minimum price for a litre of diesel on the Island is still $2.18.4 cents.
