Former New Dawn Enterprises President Rankin MacSween is one of five people being appointed to the Order of Nova Scotia.
The Lieutenant-Governor’s office describes MacSween as a business and community leader who transformed a small volunteer initiative into a nationally recognized model of social enterprise.
Also being appointed to the Order are former premier Darrell Dexter, musician Joel Plaskett, Halifax philanthropist and entrepreneur John George Flemming and East Preston educator, human rights and community advocate Carolyn G. Thomas.
An investiture ceremony for the five will be held at Government House in Halifax in the spring.
Appointments to the order are made by the Lieutenant-Governor on the recommendation of an independent advisory council.
