While Cape Breton Regional Police remain tight lipped on the end of a gun collection pilot program, critics are sharing their opinions on the potential results.
Chief Robert Walsh refused to comment on the results of the program, while the CBRM’s Chair of the Police Commission says unofficially he heard 10-25 guns were turned in.
Licensed firearms owner and candidate of record for the Conservative Party of Canada in the last federal election Anna Manley says, if only 10 guns were turned in, she’s proud of the local firearms community.
Manley says she wants to see the program dropped entirely and more focus on illegal firearms coming from the United States.
