Toronto Man Charged In Boat Theft

RCMP say a Toronto man was arrested at sea this week after a boat was stolen from Richmond County a week earlier.

They say they got a report on Tuesday of last week about a boat stolen from a marina in D’Escousse.

They say surveillance video showed a man boarding the white cabin cruiser and leaving the marina at about noon that day.

They also say the truck he drove to the marina was reported stolen from Alberta in July.

RCMP go on to say DFO officers couldn’t make contact with the boat when it was spotted off St. Pierre and Miquelon on Sunday but it was boarded by Coast Guard and RCMP officers after being spotted east of Sable Island on Tuesday.

31-year-old Mohammed Saleh is facing a single count of theft and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.

Police say the boat and the truck were seized and an investigation continues.
