Parks Canada has announced a number of restrictions at its sites in Cape Breton, including in the Highlands National Park and at the Fortress of Louisbourg.
The agency announced similar restrictions on the mainland yesterday after the province brought in restrictions on Crown land to reduce the risk of wildfires.
The latest Park’s Canada restrictions include the closure of all trails at Louisbourg and in the Highlands, as well as all wooded areas, barrens and backcountry.
The Cabot Trail is still open, as is front country camping in the Highlands and the townsite, overnight accommodations and camping at Louisbourg, as well as day use areas and beaches.
