Rutted Section Of Sydney Bypass To Be Repaved

Provincial Public Works Minister and Northside-Westmount MLA Fred Tilley says the province will fix the problem of rutting on a section of the 125 Sydney Bypass this construction season.

Tilley says the eastbound and westbound lanes, as well as on- and off-ramps, on the 10.2-kilometre stretch between the Coxheath and Ball’s Creek exists will be repaved.

He says he’s aware of the growing concerns about that section of highway, and safety is always top of mind.

A tender will be issued this spring with the work expected to be completed by late fall.

The Public Works Department says rutting can form or roads for various reasons, including traffic levels, the age of the asphalt, conditions in the base of the road or a combination of factors.
