Regional Police Interested In Former RCMP Building

Regional Council met at City Hall in Sydney this morning.

Council got a presentation from Police Chief Robert Walsh at this morning’s meeting.

Walsh told Council the Regional Police service is interested in buying the former RCMP building on Grand Lake Road from the federal government for a dollar.

Walsh says the building is in good shape and was designed as a police building with lockup cells.

Walsh told reporters today the force is running out of space in other buildings and buying the old RCMP building would help address that

Council voted to support Walsh’s effort to approach federal officials with the purchase request.
