Man In Hospital After Being Rescued From Woods In South Bar

Cape Breton Regional Police say an 18-year-old man is recovering in hospital after being rescued in South Bar over the weekend.

Police say shortly after 7:30 Saturday night they met on Kilkenny Lake Road with the man’s mother who said her son went missing in the woods.

Police go on to say officers tracked the man using a drone and GPS and three officers fell into a snow covered swamp before the man was found.

They say the man suffered frostbite and a fire was lit while paramedics waited for a helicopter to take the man to the Regional Hospital in Sydney.

Cape Breton Ground Search and Rescue crews and numerous fire departments also assisted in the rescue effort.

Police say the man will make a full recovery.
