by Cape Breton-Canso MP Mike Kelloway announced 120-thousand dollars in federal money this morning to equip the Big Pond Volunteer Fire Department as a comfort centre.
The money going to the CBRM will be used to install a new furnace at the fire hall and make electrical panel upgrades.
The project also includes 35 new solar panels, and electric vehicle charging stations.
The upgrades will also make the facility greener as well as allow it to be used as a comfort centre during storms.
