Fundraiser Paused For Family Of Woman Found Dead At Halifax Walmart

Organizers of an online fundraiser for the family of the 19 year-old woman found dead in a walk-in oven at a Halifax Walmart say they’ve decided to turn off donations as they begin the process of distributing the funds to the family.

The GoFundMe campaign had a target of 50-thousand dollars but reached nearly 195-thousand dollars by the time donations were paused.

Organizers, the Maritime Sikh Society Executive says Gursimran Kaur’s father and brother are in India and they’re trying to get them to Canada as soon as possible.

Kaur’s mother also worked at the Mumford Road Walmart.

The fundraiser organizers say the kindness and generosity of people who donated have been a source of strength for the family as they navigate through the tragedy.
