The provincial government is reducing the harmonized sales tax or HST by one percentage point to 14 percent, starting on April 1st.
The change will see the provincial portion of the HST drop from 10 to nine per cent while the federal portion or GST will remain at 5 percent.
The government says the one percentage point reduction is expected to reduce provincial revenues by about $260.8 million in the fiscal year 2025-26.
That increases to $265.5 million in 2026-27 and $272.4 million in 2027-28.
