The Sydney Curling Club hopes to build a new 6-sheet curling facility on land it bought near Open Hearth Park.
The six sheets would be a 50% increase in capacity over the current venue and the Club says that will allow it to accommodate more members, leagues, and events.
The new venue will be designed as a multi-purpose, year-round facility that can be used as a space for other sports and community activities and be equipped to attract larger-scale provincial and national curling events.
The Club says its Capital Build Committee is currently in the funding stages of the project.
The goal is to secure enough funding in the coming months to go ahead with the final design and construction phases.
