Wanda Hennick and Amy MacKinnon each got 145 votes in the race for councillor there.
Cape Breton University political science professor Tom Urbaniak says according to the Municipal Elections Act, there’s an automatic recount by a judge when there’s a tie.
Urbaniak says if the result is still a tie after the recount, the clerk designates a person to draw a name by lot.
