Province Doing Work At Dominion Beach

The provincial Department of Natural Resources says it’s started what it calls a beach nourishment pilot project at Dominion Beach to help secure the beach.

It says beach nourishment typically involves placing suitable-sized stones to allow for sand to build up and slow the movement and loss of beach.

It says a coastal engineering firm is currently designing the pilot project and construction is expected to start in the spring.

On top of the pilot project, the Department says improvements are planned for the lower parking lot at the beach on Seaside Drive.

That includes the construction of new accessible washrooms that are expected to be ready for the opening of the next park season.
