Membertou is part of a group that’s buying a ship repair and refit business in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Qalipu First Nation and St. John’s-based Horizon Naval Engineering are also part of the group buying the Newdock shipyard.
The deal is being called an investment in sustainable economic development for Membertou and Qalipu.
The sale is expected to close in early October.
