Edwards Promising Miners Museum Committee

Deputy Mayor and candidate for mayor James Edwards says he’ll set up a committee to find funding to make sure the Cape Breton Miner’s Museum doesn’t close if he’s elected mayor.

Edwards says the mandate of the committee will be to secure permanent funding for the museum from all levels of government and the private sector.

He says funding for the establishment of the committee would be available from the CBRM with advice from municipal staff.

The executive director of the Glace Bay facility, Mary Pat Mombourquette, says they aren’t making enough money to pay for expenses, and provincial funding hasn’t increased to meet the demand.
