Pallet Shelters Arriving In Sydney Today

The Pallet shelters for people who are unhoused are scheduled to arrive today at Pine Tree Park at the former Sydney radar base.

New Dawn Enterprises says 35 temporary shelters will be assembled at the site that will also offer services for people living in the shelters.

A team from Pallet, the company that produces the shelters, will be on-site today to train the local build team that’s expected to have the shelters assembled by the end of the week.

New Dawn will operate the Pallet village in partnership with the Ally Centre of Cape Breton with funding from the province.

The Pine Tree Park site was chosen as the location for the Pallet village after community opposition to a site off Henry Street in Whitney Pier.
