Councillors Raise Concerns About SPCA Service

Regional Councillors are hoping to have a meeting with the SPCA as concerns are being raised about their services to enforce the municipality’s dog bylaw.

A couple of councillors brought up concerns today when council was asked to appoint new bylaw officers.

One of those councillors was Glen Paruch, who spoke about two times in his district when the SPCA didn’t have anyone to respond to cases on weekends.

Paruch asked if that was regular practice and Buildings and Bylaws Manager John Crane said he’d look into the question.

Despite their concerns, councillors voted to accept a staff recommendation to appoint ten new officers to enforce the dog bylaw.
